The IRBV’s grants committee has received 2 submissions for this year’s J. André Fortin grant, which is awarded annually to the best thesis in mycology or mycorrhizes at the IRBV. This grant was created thanks to a generous donation from Mr. J. André Fortin, the IRBV’s first director. The committee wants to congratulate both applicants for the excellence of their thesis.
The very first J. André Fortin grant is awarded to Alice Roy-Bolduc, student under the joint supervision of Mohamed Hijri, Étienne Laliberté and Stéphane Boudreau, for her thesis titled La face cachée de la dune: Communautés fongiques du sol: dynamique, succession et interactions avec la végétation d’un écosystème dunaire côtier aux Îles de la Madeleine, Qc. The committee was impressed by the originality of her work and its general excellence. Her studies significantly improve our knowledge of evolutionary processes as well as the interaction between plant and fungal communities in dune systems.
The grant will be officially given during the event Célébrer les arts et les sciences at the Université de Montréal, on Tuesday 21 November.
Congratulations Alice!
