On Thursday November 24th, the annual event Célébrer les arts et les sciences was held at the Roger-Gaudry pavilion of the Université de Montréal. Our collegues Jacques Brisson, Luc Brouillet, Anne Bruneau, Mario Cappadocia, Colin Favret, Etienne Laliberté and Marc St-Arnaud were all honoured during this year’s event. Bara Altartouri, who was awarded this year’s Marie-Victorin grant, was present as well.

Jacques Brisson: named holder of the NSERC/Hydro-Québec industrial research chair in phytotechnology.

Luc Brouillet: recipient of the Canadian Botanical Association’s Lawson medal for the excellence of his contribution to Canadian botany.

Anne Bruneau: recipient of the Michel-Jurdant award for the excellence and diffusion of her research and actions in the field of environmental sciences.

Mario Cappadocia: recipient of the Université de Montréal Prix du recteur in the Initiative category for the organization of conferences during which he has given presentations of great quality.

Colin Favret: recipient of an excellence award in teaching from the Faculté des arts et science of the Université de Montréal.

Étienne Laliberté: recipient of the William S Cooper prize from the Ecological Society of America for being a co-author on the article titled Environmental Filtering Explains Variations in Plant Diversity Along Resource Gradients published in Science.

Marc St-Arnaud: co-honoree, alongside his research team, for his research on soil fertilization which led to one of the greatest discoveries of 2015 according to Québec Science magazine.
