Annual meeting of the Société québécoise de phytotechnologie

The 6th annual meeting of the Société québécoise de phytotechnologie (SQP; Quebec Phytotechnology Society) was held on May 31 in the Henry-Teuscher Auditorium of the Montreal Botanical Garden. The 240 participants (a record attendance) from private, university and government organizations gathered for the conference on the theme of “Green roofs and walls”. Internationally-renowned speakers included Nigel Dunnet (University of Sheffield) and Daniel Roehr (University of British Columbia). Marian Rodriguez (photo), a doctoral student in Jacques Brisson’s laboratory and recipient of the SQP’s 2011 research grant, delivered a speech on plant diversity and marsh filtration. Among IRBV members who assisted in organizing the conference were Jacques Brisson (president of the SQP), Patrick Boivin (secretary of the SQP), Michel Labrecque, and several students and volunteers.
